Media

Virtually every night, on every major television network, people across the country watch as a reporter stands in front of the White House reporting on the President's activities. Every night, a significant number of news-hungry people turn to Nightline for discussion, insight and analysis. Every weekend, a series of talking heads shows originate in the nation's capital, bringing major newsmakers into conversations with critical journalists aiming to probe beneath the headlines. Each day, the Washington bureau of each major newspaper in the country is busy researching, investigating and reporting on news from the city, often generating front page articles. Washington, DC, is the second news media capital of the US, with opportunities for externships abundant. In addition, Discovery Communications is headquartered in the nearby suburbs, providing opportunities to work on the entertainment and education side of the media. Assist a producer, reporter, journalist, script writer. The possibilities for exploring the world of communications are endless. A few examples of possible externships related to the Media are:
  • ABC News, World News Tonight
  • ABC News, 20/20
  • American Civil Liberties Union, Communication/Media Department
  • CBS Evening News
  • CNN Political Unit
  • C-SPAN
  • Dallas Morning News, Washington Bureau
  • NBC-Dateline, Consumer Unit
  • U.S. Trade Representative, Public and Media Affairs
