Internships

An internship in Washington, DC allows you to:
  • See how government, private companies, law firms, high tech start-ups, or clinical research labs--just to name a few examples--really get their work done
  • Show how much you can contribute to an office of your choosing
  • Try out the career of your dreams
  • Check out alternate careers
  • Practice getting a job and learn essential on-the-job skills in a setting where there is a very comfortable safety net supporting you
  • Earn letters of recommendation from recognized leaders and experts, distinguished professionals whose letters might make your applications in the future stand out from the crowd

You will find a wide range of opportunities available to you in Washington: from the prestigious to the obscure, the large to the small, the formal to the informal, in every possible area of work.

Seeking an internship might be a bit daunting to you, but it won't be with all of the support you receive from the Center staff. After you have registered for the Summer in Washington program, you will receive a handout which discusses the guidelines for our internships and the steps necessary to secure the very best possible internship for you.

We will then remain in touch with you as you seek your internship, providing guidance, advice, and information, whenever we can possibly help.
